One of the main features on the iPod Touch is its ability of Wi-Fi. With this ability, you can browse the internet with the Safari internet browser, buy apps from the App Store, purchase songs and movies from iTunes, watch videos on YouTube, and use Google Maps – All on the iPod Touch itself.
Before you begin any of these, you’ll need to set up your iPod Touch with a wireless internet connection. To do this, simply tap setting on the home menu. This icon has gears on it. After it pops up, which is almost instantly, you’ll see a variety of choices and categories.
Then, click on the Wi-Fi tab. It is the tab on the top. You will then be taken to the Wi-Fi networks page. There, you can turn Wi-Fi either on or off and also select a network. Every time you open this page, the iPod Touch automatically searches for nearby networks. If you are in or near a wireless hotspot, chances are it will pick up a signal. Simply click on one of the networks that pops up to connect to it. You may have to enter a password.
Now since you are connected, you can click on the home button. This will close the whole settings menu and you will be back at the home screen. Now, tap Safari or YouTube to begin using the full capabilities of the Wi-Fi on your iPod Touch. You can browse web pages with Safari, and watch any YouTube videos. You can also use the maps app to use Google maps. On top of this, you can download apps from the app store or download songs from iTunes.
The speed of the downloads and loading speed of the YouTube videos all depend on your connection speed. The closer to the wireless source you are, the faster the speed.
