Top 3 Best Free Antivirus Programs

Not everybody is ready to pay more than $150 each year for an antivirus license, even if those antivirus programs assure your files security. As there are a lot of freeware programs out there, it’s normal to find some decent antivirus programs for free too. Let’s take a look and shortly review the best three of them.

3. AVG Antivirus
It may be popular and good enough for many users, but AVG’s free version does not offer as many things as the other antivirus programs free versions. It has a nice interface, the security is good, but I don’t think it should be a first choice if you want to have a free version of an antivirus. The spyware protection is good too, but not at the same level of the one Avast is offering.

2. Avira Personal
Avira is also popular, but some of the people claim that it doesn’t offer enough protection for spyware. It detects viruses slightly better than Avast, but the spyware detection is way better in the free version of Avast than in the free version of Avira. It seems, anyway, that the paid version of Avira offers the best spyware protection form all of those three, but we’re not considering the paid versions now, so we don’t crown Avira’s free version.

1. Avast Home Edition

The overall best free antivirus is Avast, especially for the very good virus and spyware detection, according to antivirus test results from different web pages and statistics all over the internet. Avast is easy customizable, provides a very nice interface and has a good active protection. You can also scan on boot if you choose to, but it’s unlikely you’d want that, because the boot process will take forever. Avast is the only from those three antivirus programs we’re looking at which also has a version for Mac.
