DISCLAIMER: THESE ARE ALL RUMORS - THEY HAVE NOT YET BEEN CONFIRMED BY APPLE
What’s next for iPods? The iPod touch was a huge jump in technology for Apple, but we all know that Apple is not going to stop there! Let’s take a look at what consumers are saying that want to see in a new version of the iPod Touch.
First – A built in camera! The iPhone has a built in camera, so why can’t the iPod Touch? A built in camera would make the iPod Touch fly even faster off the shelves. It would allow users to make more room in their pockets or their purses by eliminating the use of a bulky digital camera.
Second – A built in microphone! The iPod Touch has a built in speaker, so why shouldn’t it have a built in microphone as well? A built in microphone would defeat the need of having to carry around a special adapter everywhere. It’d be much easier to record quick memos or that really funny laugh one of your friends just had.
Third – More battery life! Only six hours for battery life is not that much. If apple could extend that some how to eight hours, maybe ten, and maybe even twelve, that would be great. It would even be better if it allowed current iPod Touch users to upgrade to a new battery, if Apple came out with new batteries. Even an Apple Certified external battery would allow users to feel much more comfortable.
Fourth – A spot for an SD Chip! Some users can only afford a 16 GB model, and can’t rack up the money it takes to buy a 32 GB model. If Apple included a spot for an SD Chip, then users would be able to add more space at their own expense without having to buy a whole new iPod Touch. This may cause confusion, however, and may only be able to use for songs and such, unless it was accessed by a separate app to reach the files on the SD Chip.
All in all, the iPod Touch needs an upgrade. Whether it’s tomorrow or next year, it needs to happen, and with Apple being Apple, the next update is bound to be a big one, as it normally is.
