Microsoft Corporation or Apple Inc

For many years, Apple and Microsoft have been trying to make themselves look better than one another, and usually Apple wins every single time. Then again, Microsoft is mainly a software company, while Apple is both. Microsoft has its own gaming system, the Xbox 360, while Apple has its own TV Recorder, the Apple TV.

Both companies have their share of music players, as well. Even though Apple has more types of music players than Microsoft, Microsoft’s Zune has grown in popularity because of the type of music store offered. With iTunes, a user pays for every song he or she downloads. This is opposed to the Zune music store, where the user pays a monthly fee for a certain number of downloads, and depending on the “plan,” the amount may be unlimited. Some users find the monthly plan more convenient than an “a la carte” plan.

For those who really enjoy or love Microsoft Word, I have bad news because this coming New Year, Word is going to be prohibited from sale beginning from January 11, 2010, which by the way is less than 3 weeks away.

So what happen? If you did not heard, early on August of this year, a court sided with a Canadian company called i4i that holds a 1998 patent on the way the XML language is implemented. They found that Microsoft was in violation of that patent.

As a result of that Microsoft was told to license the code in question from i4i or reprogram it, or else Microsoft Word would have to be removed from sale in the market. The original ruling gave Microsoft until October to get its legal affairs in order, but appeals pushed that out a bit.

Recently I was looking a video posted to YouTube. In there, two co-workers, one white and one black, tried out the web cam face-tracking software on an HP MediaSmart computer. The software is supposed to follow users as they move, but it fails to recognize Desi, a black man. When his co-worker Wanda, who is white, enters the frame, it immediately recognizes her and follows her in the frame.By the way this guy bought the computer for his wife as a present but, he finds out that the computer software does not works with him.

He says,

"As soon as my blackness enters the frame ... it stopped," Desi said. "As soon as white Wanda appears, the camera moves. Black Desi gets in there? Nope, no facial recognition anymore, buddy. I'm going on record and I'm saying it. Hewlett-Packard computers are racist."

So have you forgotten you Joomla 1.5 admin password? Well I have bad news for you, the thing about the admin password, is that you won’t be able to recover it. I know it seems scary, but what you can do is replace that unknown password for something that you will know. That is what you are going to be learning on this video tutorial.

Now on this video, I’m using a Linux server with a CPANEL utility, if there is a chance that you are using a Windows server, it is going to be different. Also some Linux servers don’t come with the CPANEL utility, so be aware of that. What you can do in that case is, you can contact your hosting company and ask them how to access your Database from the Joomla site that you forgot the password.
