General Steps to Update Any Computer BIOS (Basic Input/Output System)

The BIOS is a firmware designed to be the first program run by a computer when you turn it on. The main function of the Basic Input/Output System (BIOS) is to identify, test, and initialize all the hardware devices such as the video card, hard disk, floppy disk, network card, and any other system’s hardware.

As you should know, programs on your computer should be updated normally to fix bugs, general problems, security patches, and many other issues that will help you computer become a more stable system. These updates are available at the manufacturer's Website. However, updating your BIOS could be a little more risky because if you make a mistake in the update process, you can finish with an unbootable PC.  So here's how you can be sure, you update your BIOS without any hazard.

You will need to identify your current BIOS version.

One way to check this is to open the System Information in Windows. Just type msinfo32 into the search bar (for Windows 7/Vista) or the Run box (for XP), and click System Summary.
