After successfully installing Joomla on your machine, you can now start creating and managing your website content. Joomla makes the complex task of managing your website very easy. You need to login as your website’s administrator and start creating and organizing your content in the Joomla Administration section.
The Joomla Administration section consists of various screens called Managers used to manage and organize particular specific website design functionality and features. The Managers can be easily accessed from the top menu in the administration section or from the control panel screen.
In Joomla, all content is stored in database. You can manage the content from the administration backend section and your changes will be saved in the database. After that when a user visits your website, he will be shown the content dynamically created by Joomla from the backend database. In this way, you don’t need to create any web page in Joomla; you just write articles, blog posts, upload your images, organize the content in various sections and categories, select your favorite template and install any extensions. Joomla stores all your content and configuration in the database and dynamically creates the necessary web page code on the fly and shows it to visitor. So, you don’t need to have any knowledge of any programming or web designing languages like HTML, Javascript, CSS, etc. Joomla writes all the code for you!
Let’s get started quickly with Joomla Administration:
-
Login as administrator by visiting the Joomla administration section at http://www.yourdomain.com/administrator/. If prompted, enter the username as ‘admin’ and password as what you entered during Joomla installation. Then click on Login Button. If you are working on a newly installed Joomla website the defaul username will be: admin and the password: whatever you choose at installation.

-
Then you will see the Joomla Control Panel Screen. Using the Control Panel you can easily access the most frequently used Joomla functions. Various Joomla Managers are assigned to handle specific function.

The ‘Add New Article’ is used to create new content under a category in a section, ‘Article Manager’ is used to manage and edit already created articles. ‘FrontPage Manager’ is used to control the display of articles on the home page of your website. ‘Section Manager’ and ‘Category Manager’ are for creating and managing sections and categories inside the sections respectively. Articles can be organized within various Categories inside a Section.
The ‘Media Manager’ is used to upload and delete images. ‘Menu Manager’ is used to create and edit menus for navigating your website. ‘Language Manager’ sets the default language for your website. ‘User Manager’ controls the users, user groups and their access levels. The ‘Global Configuration’ section is used to configure important settings applicable throughout your Joomla site.
