First off, has your background or wallpaper been changed? If it has, this is a sign that spyware is on your computer. If your homepage on your internet browser has been changed as well, this is also a very common symptom.
Getting pop ups often is usually a common sign of spyware as well. These pop ups will try to redirect to a variety of different sites, most of which will give you more spyware. These sites could be pornographic, gaming, or sites for muscle building and scams. There are more, but those are just the most common.
You will also get pop ups stating that you have spyware and need to download some software. The software that pops up is usually malicious and will infect your computer even more. It would be wise to purchase an actual anti-virus program from a certified retailer.
Another symptom is if your computer is suddenly running extremely slow. Spyware naturally causes the victim computer to slow down. However, just because your computer is running slow doesn’t mean that you have spyware. There could be a number of things slowing down your computer. This can be a full registry, a full hard drive, or a low amount of RAM.
So hopefully now you can decipher if you have spyware or not. Remember that a good anti-virus program should keep you safe, although staying up to date with normal updates is also important. Spyware is a bad thing to have, and although may start out small, can grow into a large mess.
