Internet is essential when you have a computer. However, in order to use the internet, you need something called a browser, or more specifically, an Internet Browser. An internet browser simply just allows you to browse the web. There are many types of browsers out there, which we will soon discuss.
A very popular browser that comes standard (and can be downloaded for free) on any Windows-based computer is Internet Explorer, also known as IE. Another popular browser, which is also free for downloading, is Mozilla Firefox.
When choosing a browser to use, it’s important to look and see what each browser has to offer. Mozilla Firefox is a very stable browser, while Internet Explorer is known for all of its shortcuts. However, to some people, having too many shortcuts can be confusing.
Each browser (there are many out there) usually is able to use Plug-Ins and tool bars. Plug-Ins and tool bars are little apps or utilities that are installed into your browser. For example, this may be a Google search bar, which allows you to do a Google search no matter what web page you are on.
Some programs on your computer have the option of installing a tool bar onto your browser. This will allow you to access the program (and updates for the program) directly from the browser, making everything a bit easier.
Browsers are constantly being upgraded, updated, and more. When a browser update is available, you will normally have an option update right then and there or at a later time. Sometimes, however, the update is automatic. This is usually because it is an essential update.
Internet browsers, and their creators, are at a constant battle and uproar, trying to make one browser look better than the next. Just remember that it doesn’t matter what companies say about other browsers; what matters is your voice and opinion. If you like IE because of the shortcuts, then use it! If you look Mozilla because of the security, then use it! The final decision is, and always will be, up to you.
