Apple Then and Now

Apple is a computer company that changed the way, we, as humans use computers. With introducing the first real portable computer to making the first all in one computer, Apple has done it all. Their new operating system, Mac OS 10.6 Snow Leopard has made people fall more in love with Apple’s computer systems.

Back in 1991, Apple introduced the first laptop that was really portable. It was a PowerBook 100, and compared to today’s laptops, was nothing. It maxed out at only eight megabytes of RAM and forty megabytes of storage. It was possible to get an external floppy drive. The input device was a keyboard and a roller ball for a mouse.

The next big item Apple released was the iMac G3, the first all in one desktop computer. It was announced in 1998, and came in a Bondi Blue color. Later, it came in many colors and editions, such as red, snow white, green, flower power, and more. It first came with Mac OS 8, but then upgraded to Mac OS 9, and finally upgraded to Mac OS X.

Finally Apple switched to Intel processors. This was a great breakthrough, as it allowed users to use Windows on a Mac via a dual boot application. It also made the Apple computers faster. On top of this, it gave users a more comfortable feeling while buying a Mac computer. Intel processors have been around much longer than “G” processors. (G3, G4, G5)

As anyone can easily see, Apple made great breakthroughs with their computer products. May we not forget the iPhone, iPod Touch, and iPod, which allowed users to listen to their music, play games, and even make phone calls. Apple has made many changed in today’s world of technology, and there is no sign showing that they are going to stop. With all honesty, Apply may someday dominate over PCs
